Integrative Cancer Care places the patient at the centre of care when facing a diagnosis of cancer, involving them in the decision making process on the best tools and approaches available.

The focus is not only on the tumour, cancer, cancerous or haematological process within the body but also focuses on the tumor microenvironment, the surrounding areas of a person which includes the mind, spirit, sleep, immune system, inflammatory state, and the general health of the rest of the body. This approach respects that cancer can be multi-factorial with multiple causes or factors in which the goal of integrated cancer care is to address these whenever possible. As we know people with the exact same cancer and stage can be very different from each other. “No two cancers are alike, like a finger print, each with unique features and complexity.”

While treatment approaches such as immunotherapy, targeted therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation may be of value in your care, there is also an important emphasis on diet, nutrition, physical activity, mental-welling being, select natural health medicines, intravenous therapies, hyperthermia, and which may include repurposed / off-label medications.  In addition there are diverse treatment options that exist in other healthcare models that include but are not limited to naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, ayurvedic medicine, and massage therapy just to name a few to assist in creating an optimal personalized cancer care program.

There is a growing body of evidence that both survival and quality of life can be enhanced by this approach.

The goal is to empower people, enhance quality of life, and improve survival. This model can be safely incorporated at any stage of a cancer treatment program –before, during, or after.

For over 25 years, at LEMMO Integrated Cancer Care & Health Centre, we have been providing such care.

“If we continue to do things precisely the way we have always done them it is a perfect formula for stagnation…. History has frequently shown that today’s heresy is tomorrow’s orthodoxy.”
