Common heart drug Propranolol, a beta-blocker, may provide anti-anxiety value for select patients with cancer. Propranolol assists by calming down the bodies response to stress. In addition, research is also exploring its anti-cancer potential roles during cancer surgeries. It is believed that surgery spikes stress hormones. Those hormones may help leftover cancer cells survive, grow and / or suppress immune function. As a result Propranolol may block these cancer-promoting actions.
